THE OPPORTUNITY

 

 

The Alliance for Young Artists and Writers, the national nonprofit organization that presents the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, is seeking an Office Manager to work directly with the Executive Director to organize operations and logistics for the active, high-energy team of professionals who present the Scholastic Awards.

The Alliance identifies the most creative, and original young Americans and offers them Awards and opportunities for recognition, exhibition, publication and scholarships. Since 1923, the Awards have identified the early promise of countless creative leaders, including Richard Avedon, Truman Capote, Joyce Carol Oates, Andy Warhol and Lena Dunham. With nearly 350,000 submissions in 2018, the Awards are the nation’s largest source of scholarships and recognition for creative high-school students.

 

YOUR RESPONSABILITIES

 


The Office Manager will report to the Executive Director, providing support with travel planning and generating reports, production schedules and presentations while overseeing the day-to-day administration of the Alliance’s operations. He/she will work closely with the part-time accountant to provide back up and gain familiarity with budgeting and finance systems. This individual also supports the Program team on planning and presenting events, large-scale communications and exhibitions.

 

 

The Office Manager position is an excellent opportunity for an organized and motivated individual who has demonstrated increasing skill with logistics and planning. The position requires strong oral and written communication skills, and provides opportunities to work independently as well as part of a team with a strong sense of community.


HOW YOU CAN FIT

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational and project-management skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team, while demonstrating good judgment and excellent time-management skills.
  • Previous experience and/or familiarity with Fund EZ is a plus
  • Candidate holds a Bachelors’ degree
  • Successful applicants will demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, a good sense of humor, and an interest in contributing to a team that is strongly committed to the Alliance’s mission.

Requirements:

  • One to two years of administrative and/or finance experience in an office environment
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain composure while organizing and prioritizing multiple tasks and meeting ongoing deadlines. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills, including expertise with Excel, PowerPoint and other office programs. Previous experience with Donor Perfect and Fund EZ is a plus.
