You’ll be a key technical contributor for the technologies and services that power Scholastic’s digital applications across the world. You’ll have a chance to work on interesting projects in a fun collaborative environment utilizing technologies ranging such as Spring Boot, AWS Lambda, relational and NoSQL DBs, Kafka streams/events, Adobe Experience Manager and SalesForce Commerce Cloud (a.k.a. Demandware).



• Participate in small agile teams developing and delivering solutions serving multiple lines of business, products, markets, and geographies.
• Develop RESTful services and customer facing web applications.
• Deliver scalable and fault tolerant applications and services that can meet exacting service level and operational requirements.
• Engage with peers across the organization on integrations between the platform and other Scholastic enterprise services such as product data, order management, identity and analytics.
• Assist in acceptance testing, load testing, troubleshooting, and performance tuning as required.
• Ensure that development efforts exemplify Scholastic’s engineering and quality best practices.





• Experience designing, developing, testing, deploying, and scaling web services and applications.

• Working knowledge of service oriented architectures and RESTful APIs.

• Deep knowledge of the contemporary Java ecosystem, tooling, and best practices.

• Working knowledge of data persistence and distribution strategies and implementations.

• Experience designing and using relational DBs and persistence frameworks (Hibernate/JPA/Spring Data).

NoSQL (e.g. Mongo) a plus.

• Spring Boot, Spring MVC and Spring Security is preferred.

• Experience designing software and systems that can operate efficiently and effectively in highly dynamic, highly automated, on-demand infrastructures, such as Amazon Web Services.

• Experience developing highly fault-tolerant systems that can meet exacting service level and operational requirements.

• Full stack development with intermediate level knowledge of Angular JS a plus
