THE OPPORTUNITY:

 

This senior producer will act as a product manager for digital development in Scholastic’s Classroom Magazines division. As we migrate and reimagine our content into new systems, we need a strong product manager who understands our business and has an interest in shepherding projects from conception to completion. 


YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 
•Partner with editorial leadership to create and maintain websites and other digital properties for educational magazines
•Manage ongoing production for projects after launch, by supporting production staff and working with stakeholders on enhancements
•Work with editors and designers to conceive new projects, through discovery and design, ensuring that customer and business needs are met 
•Represent editorial needs to business analysts and development teams, serving as a key communicator between business and technology groups
•Translate requests into user stories, as needed, and ensure correct prioritization
•Verify development work in customer acceptance on behalf of business
•Participate in prioritization and release planning, helping to define roadmaps and milestones
•Use metrics and customer data to help stakeholders realize opportunities, as well as help create efficiencies for ongoing digital production 
•Serve as a project manager for small projects, keeping teams on track by scheduling meetings, tracking work, and communicating blockers and timelines between teams 
•Help coordinate production work necessary for MVP and remediation releases, along with editorial, QA, production, and developer teams
•Support leadership in implementing digital production strategy

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

 

  • Minimum of 2-5 years in similar roles (web production, product management, or project management)
  • Experience with working across teams—ideal candidate is comfortable both presenting to leadership and communicating with developers
  • Working knowledge of project management methodologies (Agile, scrum, Kanban)
  • Strong communications skills—must be capable of translating technical information into plain English, and turn customer needs into user stories
  • General knowledge of best practices for UX and site governance
