THE OPPORTUNITY

 

Position Summary


The Customer Data and Data Engineering Program Manager is responsible for insuring that a program roadmap is delivered on time, within budget, and with quality meeting expectations of all stakeholders. The program manager is responsible for working across all functional and technical areas to insure successful program delivery occurs. This position oversees a program team of at least 20 resources and is responsible to drive the coordination across all groups to deliver tasks as outlined in the program roadmap.


 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The program manager will recruit top level talent for roles within the program that can be functional, technical, quality, change management, operations, and infrastructure. The program manager will establish and drive project management policy, process, and metrics that team members will use. The program manager will insure that there is a high degree of collaboration and dependency management across the program so that all milestones and budgets can be delivered. The program manager will maintain early warning systems and intervene and escalate issues in the program that is heading off course. The program manager will lead and run a monthly program review process to drive transparency and accountability across the organization.

The program manager will be responsible for the financial health of the program which includes managing the budget, working with teams within and outside of the program to secure funding as needed, and building and tracking the progress of the business value derived from the program.

This is a challenging role with many touchpoints with senior executive management in both the technology organization and business units at Scholastic. The position requires an individual with strong communication skills, a driver of action, attention to details, and team motivation skills.


Core Responsibilities


  • Responsible primarily for the delivery of the program roadmap
  • Owns the roadmap and coordinates inputs from key stakeholders to influence the roadmap
  • Enforces consistency and best practices in management execution across the program
  • Standardizes processes for managing schedule, scope, risks, and dependencies 
  • Interfaces with lines of businesses to ensure expectations are met and quality of delivery is smooth and efficient
  • Maintains accountability for the overall health of the program across financial, best practices, quality, and delivery spectrums
  • Grows scrum masters in accordance with the company career model framework. Staffs programs effectively as needs arise
  • Responsible for supporting organizational initiatives as part of overall continuous improvement for the technology organization
  • Provides senior level executive communications on status of the program and key risks/mitigation plans
  • Resolves issues and blockers for the program and escalates to senior management as needed
  • Works with dependent projects to secure funding for resourcing and project needs.

 

 

HOW YOU CAN FIT   

 

Qualifications / Skills 


  • 7+ years of project management experience with technology projects

  •  Experience with core data engineering and data warehouse concepts and project work

  • At minimum a BS degree in computer science or other relevant technology fields

  • Expert experience in Project Management concepts and strategy

  • Experience with managing scope, schedule, resources and budgets for multiple projects

  • Experience working with multiple business groups to balance expectations

  • Experience with risk management and tracking project deliverables

  • Knowledge of technical software development and quality engineering concepts

  • A track record of successfully delivering projects in a large matrixed organization

  • Financial and budgetary skills

  • Experience managing systems integrators to deliver quality solutions

  • Ability to work collaboratively with teams and possesses a hands on attitude

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, presentation experience to senior leadership

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Detail oriented and organized

  • Should also possess management experience with technology package solutions. Change management experience is a plus. Prior experience managing MDM projects.
