RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Janitorial Supervisor is responsible for the efficient daily operation of cleaning all the Algoa, E. McCarty and Robinson Rd. facilities.  The position will work under the direction of the Sr. Facilities Manager. 

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

·         Provides direct supervision to janitor personnel and Material Handler Custodians responsible for sweeping, vacuuming, mopping or scrubbing hallways, offices, warehouse, breakrooms, including refrigerators, and stairs; empty trash and garbage containers; clean bathrooms; pick up trash; clean vents; keep pick lines and operations areas clean and free from trash; pickup grounds; smoke shelter cleanup; make cardboard bales as needed; and replenish supplies.

·         Ensures the safe and efficient operation of cleaning all facilities in the NSO. 

·         Inspects completed work for conformance to standards.

·         Maintains records as required.

·         Trains employees in proper cleaning techniques and maintaining of janitorial equipment. 

·         Orders janitorial supplies as required.

·         Responsible for ensuring that safety requirements, including the blood borne pathogen policy are followed.  

·         Will handle all performance reviews, disciplinary issues, coaching/counseling and overall employee relations.

·         Develops and maintain a schedule for deep cleaning for all areas. 

·         Oversees Kronos coding, verifying time and monitoring attendance.

·         Will schedule personnel and match the skill and background of personnel to the job. 

·         Assists in developing programs to train and motivate personnel for increased effectiveness.

·         Assists with set-up and breakdown of special events.

·         All other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Minimum of three years industrial/commercial janitorial experience.  

·         Minimum of three years of proven supervisory skills including organizing and prioritizing work, and utilizing sound judgment.

·         Eye for detailed work with technical/mechanical background

·         Previous experience utilizing independent decision making.

·         Good interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.

·         Ability to work flexible hours as needed.

·         Must have the ability to motivate staff and handle a variety of both personnel and technical

issues on an ongoing basis.

·         Ability to handle and diffuse stressful situations.

·         Must be able to lift and carry up to 40lbs

·         Excellent overall customer service skills, attendance and performance record.
