The Manager of Digital Payment Services manages the development of an integrated payment strategy and works with business partners to ensure continued innovation in Scholastic’s Payment Processing services.  This individual is responsible for the daily processing, control and compliance of all digital payment transactions, including oversight of all operating rules, payment risks, PCI risk management and current business issues affecting digital payment services.


This position requires a high level of experience in the development, implementation and management of complicated and interrelated digital payment systems and methods.  The main goal of this position is to drive the company towards innovative payment offerings, fraud/risk protection and account reconciliation as well as make day-to-day decisions that impact the daily operations of the digital payment processes. 


Additionally the candidate will also be responsible for overseeing the daily production and performance of the Book Fair Credit & Collection team to ensure that performance and quality customer service goals are met and back up the activities of the Accounts Receivable Department and Credit & Collections Department. 



  • Ensure Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI) compliance and regulation requirements are adhered to across all areas of responsibility. 

  • Collaborate with business and technology partners to develop a strategic roadmap for digital payment processing.

  • Manage all digital payment policies, procedures and day to day operations ensuring efficiency and compliance, resulting in minimal payment exceptions and timely processing. Make sure that Business Managers are aware of problems with system issues, credit card mandates, contracts, upgrades etc.

  • Attend annual bank and PayPal meeting (s).

  • Some travel required.

  • Supervise 5-10 payment specialists and collection representatives.

  • Provide month-end reporting such as Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) and enforce aging-report action-items for each collections representative 

  • Will conduct a monthly review of Aging with AR/Credit & Collections Manager and provide plan of action to address delinquent accounts.

  • Assist AR/Credit & Collections Manager in the development, implementation and enforcement of collection policies and procedures that protect Scholastic from loss due to bad debt.

  • Write and deliver job performance evaluations annually for staff.

  • Support and enforce Company policies and safety practices/procedures.

  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Must have strong organizational skills.

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills.

  • Must have three to five years of experience in supervising or managing an accounts receivable, digital payments and/or credit and collections employees.

  • Associates Degree or equivalent; Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Business, Accounting or Finance, or related field.

  • Experience with Oracle and AS400 preferred.

  • Must be detailed oriented and have a high attention to accuracy.

  • Great personal character with the ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate respect and professionalism.

  • Ability to motivate and influence others, foster sound relationships, present a trustworthy and diplomatic image, and deal effectively with others concerning topics of a personal or sensitive nature.

  • Basic understanding of accounting preferred.

  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills such as Excel, Word and Outlook.
