THE OPPORTUNITY/RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Principal Architect, you will translate business requirements into technical designs and unlock the business value of Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC). You will establish architecture standards, ensure code quality and be accountable for the health of the overall solution. You will teach, mentor and share knowledge, improve processes and develop systematic solutions to problem patterns.

Reporting to the Director of eCommerce engineering, the Principal architect will manage the eCommerce development team to ensure delivery quality and achieve efficiency following agile development best practices. As part of these responsibilities, the Principal architect will provide input to the product roadmap, helping to identify, manage, test and launch feature/function updates and enhancements.

The position requires an individual with strong communication skills, attention to details and ability to effectively manage and mentor agile engineering teams.

Core Responsibilities

• Architect digital consumer experiences based on a foundation of SFCC (Salesforce Commerce Cloud)
• Lead the implementation of Demandware/SFCC solutions from design through launch. Diagnose and solve technical problems related to commerce implementation
• Provide solution design for commerce features such as search, product details, personalization, and merchandizing features such as catalog, pricing and promotions
• Provide solutions around customer service, campaign management and data analytics.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners and external vendors to create end-to-end specifications for ecommerce solutions.
• Provide input and direction to engineering resources on design and implementation. Define implementation processes, quality gates and standards.
• Coordinate with other Scholastic engineering teams on cross-team and cross-domain architecture, dependencies and knowledge sharing.
• Define best practices to implement non-functional requirements like performance and scalability of the ecommerce solution.


HOW YOU CAN FIT

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
• Overall experience of 8 to 10 years of experience with 2+ years of ecommerce experience with Salesforce Commerce cloud (Demandware). 5+ years practical experience in software engineering and application architecture
• Mastery of ecommerce implementation specifically on SFCC (Salesforce commerce cloud) platform
• Experience leading agile engineering teams including a mix of onshore and offshore resources
• Strong grasp of web technologies and architectural principles necessary for designing scalable, extensible and maintainable web applications and services
• Expert level knowledge and experience on SFCC (Demandware) Site genesis framework. Experience building Site Genesis based storefronts leveraging platform features including catalog, content assets, slots, search, ordering, marketing, analytics and site preferences
• Sound knowledge & hands on experience using ISMLs, JS Controllers, pipelines, Demandware scripts, OCAPI and Business Manager Configuration.
• Integration experience with multiple third party vendors using LINK partner cartridges such as Payment gateway solutions, Gift/ Loyalty vendors, Ratings& Reviews and Social Networking sites
• Sound knowledge of integration patterns with larger technical ecosystems including API Gateway, content management, Identity and Access Management, Order management and PIM
• Knowledge and experience with the various Build and Release options in SFCC including how to optimize the load times of pages and resources such as CSS, JS and images
• Experience with standard JavaScript Frameworks/APIs such as Angular/jQuery/React is a plus
• Knowledge on SFRA strongly desired
• Aptitude for troubleshooting and problem solving.
• Ability to establish goals and set clear expectations, prioritize activities and follow through to completion
• Strong sense of ownership and accountability with a commitment to delivering high quality software that balance technical and business goals.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate with a variety of audiences at all levels.
