THE OPPORTUNITY:

 

If you have a passion for children’s reading and education as well as building software and systems that enable Scholastic to carry out its mission, this is the internship opportunity for you! Scholastic is seeking Quality Engineers to take part in the STS Internship Program for Summer 2019.


The Quality Engineer Intern will use innovative and cutting edge technologies to develop and implement automated test scripts for one of Scholastic’s web or mobile based applications. This role will work as part of an interdisciplinary agile team to ensure quality products are delivered on spec and on time all while following engineering best practices.


These positions are responsible for testing, coding, and making enhancements to Scholastic technology. Additionally, summer interns will take leadership in driving a high impact project which will expose each participant to real-world problems that require value-driven solutions.

HOW YOU CAN FIT
  • Demonstrate core fundamental test automation skills
  • Exhibit competency in programming languages and industry best practices
  • Understanding data structures and algorithms and how to apply them
  • Demonstrate design patterns - basic knowledge and how to implement
  • Clear communication and organizational skills
  • Detail oriented, resourceful, demonstrate initiative and be creative
  • Ability to follow Acceptance Test Driven Development (ATDD) practices
 
Preferred Skills and Knowledge:
  • Experience with integration, smoke, regression, and  acceptance testing
  • Knowledge or experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases and query mechanisms is a plus
  • Knowledge or experience with project tracking tools such as Jira or Trello
  • Understanding of services and RESTful APIs
  • Understanding of web programming concepts such as Java, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
  • Knowledge of development tools such as Github, Eclipse/IntelliJ, POSTMan
  • Understanding of Agile development processes and the various stages of the SDLC
  • Knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins
