THE OPPORTUNITY

 

This is an opportunity for a strong associate product marketing manager to take the next step in their career.

 

Division: Scholastic Education Division

 

Reports to: Director of Marketing, Classroom Books, PreK-6


 

JOB SUMMARY

 

The Product Marketing Manager is responsible for the creation, management, and delivery of PreK-6 individual paperback titles and the collections’ marketing strategy and collateral. He/she will create and conduct sales presentations for internal clients and manage the field communication plan. In addition, the ideal candidate will have 5-plus years of experience managing and marketing to the independent reading audience. 

 

In collaboration with all sales channels, the Product Marketing Manager will play a key role in the creation and execution of various tele-marketing and direct marketing campaigns. He/she will also develop an understanding of individual titles, customized collections, various state and national standards, and independent reading classroom implementation. 

 

The Product Marketing Manager will be focused on independent reading while continuing to gain knowledge of broader content and other product lines. The ability to deliver persuasive sales and customer-focused presentations, as well as informative and effective marketing collateral, is crucial. This position is accountable for marketing planning, from product development to launch. Effective communication and knowledge of channel and product marketing and implementations to current and potential customers are key to creating sales support and confidence in Scholastic Education products.



YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Demonstrates understanding of assigned disciplines including core and supplemental products as well as technology associated with such products.

 

Works with Account Executives to understand client needs and transfer this knowledge to pre-sales, sales, and post-sales environments.

 

Create and communicate marketing strategy to internal and external clients (field sales)

 

Manage, create, traffic, and present marketing collateral in both and digital formats from product brochures, websites, email, and field support

 

Presents Scholastic Education products in an organized, accurate, and motivating manner to internal clients

 

Customizes the sales message with awareness of customer needs, campaign issues, and competitive knowledge.

 

Works with VP of Field Training to help create and customize presentations under the guidance of the Director of Marketing and SVP Publishing

 

Works to refine and develop market, curriculum, and product knowledge by reading the market, recognizing trends, determining customer needs, and communicating effectively with the sales team.

 

Demonstrates extensive knowledge of subject matter and curricular issues and utilizes information to build a foundation for effective communication with customers.

 

Demonstrates a depth of product knowledge to position products in a way that reflects product strengths while aligning with market issues, curriculum trends, and customer needs.

 

Utilizes knowledge of competitors’ products to enhance product positioning.

 

Serves as a resource for customers and colleagues when market or product information is needed.

 

Provides timely feedback on activities conducted in a territory to the appropriate

Regional Marketer and Account Executive

 

Stay informed on sales progress and communicates to the Account Executives and internal teams in order to capitalize on sales opportunities and position product effectively.

 

Submits required reports, field communications, and marketing collateral in a timely manner.


 

HOW YOU CAN FIT 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or other job related discipline.
  • A minimum of three to five years of successful education experience.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Collaboration skills.
  • Highly organized and able to transfer strategies into actions that deliver results.
  • Outstanding presentation skills with ability to develop same skills in others.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and Go To Meeting tools.
  • A valid driver's license and clear driving record.
