THE OPPORTUNITY

Scholastic is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to join the Data Engineering team. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and problem solving skills coupled with deep experience working with data in a variety of formats. An excellent verbal and written communicator able who will work closely with business stakeholders and convey their needs to the development team, they will lead a team of analysts ensuring the delivery of highest quality data to the Scholastic enterprise.


YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work with business stakeholders to elicit and document requirements and communicate desired outcomes to the development team
• Manage and mentor a small team of data analysts
• Summarize data insights and communicate implications to internal and external stakeholders
• Design conceptual and logical data models, compile source-to-target mapping documents
• Review design documents and test plans
• Document processes and workflows, identify gaps and risks
• Utilize relevant tools to query and manipulate complex data sets
• Support the adoption of industry best practices for data analysis
• Contribute to problem resolution, team decisions and project planning


 

HOW YOU CAN FIT


Requirements:

 
• Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a focus in MIS, computer science, mathematics, engineering, science, or other quantitative field
• 10+ years experience working in data analysis or development roles
• 7+ years experience querying and analyzing data using SQL
• Excellent written skills, able to create clear, efficient, well-structured documentation
• Excellent interpersonal skills, can work effectively with all levels of an organization and geographically distributed teams
• Experience with AWS data services: Redshift, S3, DynamoDB, RDS is desired
• Experience with reporting and dashboarding tools such as Tableau, ThoughtSpot, and JasperSoft is highly desired
• Solid business judgment, strong organizational and time management skills
• Solid understanding of dimensional and relational data models
• Experience working with Agile teams
