THE OPPORTUNITY / RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Sales Operations Manager for Scholastic Education will work closely with the Senior Director, Sales Administration to execute an implementation strategy that supports the Education Field Sales Force and Strategic Sales Team. A fundamental competency of this role will be to work across all functional areas within Scholastic Education and across Scholastic corporate departments to ensure a customer focused execution of Scholastic Education’s strategic sales plan. Success in the role will require that the incumbent is managing the strategic sales opportunity in partnership with the account executive and sales management team from the first qualification of a large sales opportunity through acceptance of the final materials and services at the customer location. The accountabilities will include; but not limited to, developing implementation plan with account executive, working with Supply Chain on forecasting products/services, articulating customer expectations into an actionable plan for support departments to execute as well as measuring customer satisfaction upon implementation.

• With each identified strategic opportunity, create an implementation plan specific to the needs of that customer by collaborating with Account Executive (AE), customer and strategic sales to understand and operationalize the customer expectations. The Senior Manager will be assigned to sales opportunities based on variable criteria but most likely will be (1) potential revenue or (2) strategic importance and (3) if nominated in collaboration with Regional VP and Senior VP of Sales.
• Work within the organizational framework of Scholastic Education. The Senior Manager will leverage the expertise, processes and resources of the department to develop the Implementation Plan from initial sales quote to final delivery/fulfillment.
• For each Implementation Plan, create an actionable set of instructions with milestones and communicate to each department and set of stakeholders for strategic opportunity.
• Understand and positively affect key areas of fulfillment including designing customized solutions to serve specific customer needs while ensuring solutions meet the financial targets of the sale.
• Understand and communicate the success criteria and ensure those success criterion are measurable and reportable to stakeholders.
• Build relationships across key functional areas in order to develop processes needed to execute plan. The key departments will include but not be limited to enterprise functions such as supply chain, finance, NSO order processing/customer service and fulfillment services.
• Develop scalable processes to benchmark and execute on strategic sales implementation plan
• Develop a communications plan in partnership with sales that will facilitate constant updates and visibility to the execution of the Implementation Plan. Ideally this would leverage CRM tool (Salesforce.com)
• Effectively manage and optimize resources to yield best results for customer; this will often necessitate creative problem solving and negotiating skills in order to achieve desired outcome.

HOW YOU CAN FIT


• Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years work experience in the K-12 educational market.
• Educational sales experience either through a direct sales role or in a customer facing consultative capacity. A key success factor in this role is that the candidate is a trusted partner with the Account Executive and can sit at the table with a customer as a trusted partner and advisor.
• Exhibit a high degree of organizational capability exhibited by managing large and complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
• Experience with CRM systems and project manager software as either an accomplished user or administrator. Candidate will be able to offer examples at how systems were used to resolve problems and successfully track projects with appropriate visibility to key stakeholders.
• Experience with various product solutions including digital, professional learning and instructional frameworks.
• Proven competency in MS Office applications such as Excel, Powerpoint and Word or comparable application software.
• Candidate will need to be agile and have a proven record as a problem solver who can respond quickly to both internal and external customer needs.
• An ability and willingness to travel is a mandatory requirement.
