The Senior Manager of Digital Marketing will lead digital and social strategy across the breadth of the Scholastic trade list. This individual will work in conjunction with the social media manager and act as the team lead for amplifying Scholastic’s social media footprint for its book titles while growing our follower base.

In addition, this Senior Manager will be responsible for the strategic development and execution of title and brand websites, ensuring that they align with the social strategy. 

Candidate should have baseline experience building web pages using a content management system like WordPress and the ability to organize and manage files within that CMS.

Successful candidates will have experience creating and executing compelling content on social, a deep understanding of industry trends and best practices, and a passion for reading.

The role requires the ability to create and align the social conversation against a larger marketing campaign.

As a social media lead, the position will require the individual to work with our own brand marketing directors and publicists including YA/teen, Graphic Novels, Middle Grade, Chapter Books, Picture Books, and Licensing to help inform and direct social media strategies for the entire marketing and publicity team. This will include analyzing performance and continued communication regarding optimization and results.


• Lead, manage and optimize digital and social strategies for our teen community, graphic novel community, select brand pages and overarching social initiatives for the Trade group
• Oversee Social Media Manager
• Liaise with Corporate Communications team, specifically the social media managers, to ensure our titles are well-represented on all corporate channels
• Work with Social Media Manager to strategize a diverse content mix by channel to grow membership and engagement, including a robust influencer strategy
• Ensure that the web presence and social presences are aligned in messaging and goals
• Create engaging social posts in partnership with the Marketing Managers
• Assist in editing existing web pages to add new content using our CMS.
• Assist in the creation of new web pages that our social posts can lead to.
• Organize and manage files within a CMS.
• Oversee the development of content calendars maintained by social media manager Partner with teams to build and execute social campaigns
• Analyze social performance, turn data into insights, and guide overall social strategy
• Stay current with industry best practices and emerging trends and propose recommendations for continued growth
• Strategize and follow-up on online presence for key titles, including websites and social media campaigns
• Communicate social marketing updates to sales, editorial, cross-channel partners, agents, and authors as needed
• Provide live social coverage of events as needed


• Minimum 4 years prior social/marketing and management experience within publishing preferable but not a prerequisite
• Deep understanding of social media management tools
• Understanding of website management including CMS and DAM systems
• Proven expertise writing strong and effective social media copy with the ability to weave wit, tone and culturally relevant content into daily conversations
• Paid social media and copywriting experience
• Design skills and working knowledge of Adobe Creative software, including Photoshop, required
• Photography skills a plus
