Scholastic is currently seeking a Social Media Coordinator, reporting to the Senior Manager, Social Media and Special Projects in the Corporate Communications department. The Social Media Coordinator interacts regularly with all parts of the business (Children’s Book Publishing & Distribution, Education and International) to create and execute social media campaigns across all of the Company’s corporate social media accounts, as directed by the Senior Manager. This role also requires regular writing for the Scholastic blog, On Our Minds (, and supports production work for the Scholastic podcast, Scholastic Reads (




• Support Scholastic’s vast social media presence across multiple platforms, including generating social media content for various projects and programs, including corporate initiatives and book and product launches
• Coordinate social media live events, chats, takeovers, reveals, sweepstakes, and more
• Pull social media campaign reporting and track social media analytics
• Manage audience development efforts and fan acquisition by supporting the Senior Manager with outreach to influencers, paid social media, and corporate partnerships
• Write for the corporate blog
• Approve, proof, edit, and create social media plans
• Serve as production support for Scholastic Reads podcast, managed by the Senior Manager, including managing episode content calendar, generating episode topic ideas, selecting and secure guests (authors, editors and experts), writing scripts as needed, and collaborating with sound and mixing team to edit episodes
• Stay on top of social media and podcast trends, new technology, emerging platforms, and best practices
• Work on projects as directed by the Vice President and Senior Manager

•Proven knowledge of social media platforms and industry standards
•Knowledge of Social Media Analytics and Listening tools a plus
•Excellent writing, editing and oral communication skills
•Proficiency in Microsoft programs, including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word; skills in imaging tools (Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator) a plus
•Ability to work with multiple teams on multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail and strong time management
•Ability to demonstrate both the capability to provide creative direction as well as strong business acumen to provide strategic direction
•Ability to produce effective ideas under tight timelines
•High level of energy and creativity; a self-starter
•Strong interpersonal skills and professional presentation
•Ability to handle deadline pressure and juggle multiple projects
•Fastidious attention to detail 





• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field
• 0-3 years experience managing social media for a brand or organization
